MCD Free Ticket conpensation offer for Slane 2009

Just wondering if anybody who contacted MCD to complain about their experiences at Slane 2009 received an email from them last Friday reiterating the line from the press release about the problems being down to jsut about everybody except themselves? The last paragraph of the letter offered a free ticket for Fat Boy Slim in Marlay Pk on Sunday. The kicker for this though was that, from my own standpoint, I received the mail at 2PM last Friday. The offer was that you go out, buy a tiket for said gig, then return the proof of purchase to MCD for a refund. Fair enough, except the offer was only open to people who got the proof back to them by 5PM TODAY!! Honest to god, what's wrong with these people? That's what I can only describe as a non-offer. It's pathetic!

As a gesture of goodwill, we would like to offer you a ticket for Fatboy
Slim in Marlay Park, Dublin on Bank Holiday Sunday 2nd August 2009.

If you would like to avail of this gesture, please forward a copy of your
proof of purchase, address and contact details
to the above email address or
post to MCD Productions, 7 Park Road, Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin by 5pm
    Monday 27th July 2009.
    Kind Regards

I assumed this meant your proof of purchase of your Oasis tickets

Whats the big deal? Plenty of time to buy online or in a shop and they provide an email address to return the proof of purchase.

    Much ado about nothing.

I wrote and emailed MCD a pretty serious letter/ email after the Slance disaster. They told me they would respond within 5 days. A week ago and after nothing but silence from MCD I wrote them another email requesting their promised response. Still nothing....

Email received on Sunday saying a lot about the security being properly qualified and then the offer of a free ticket to FBoy...

I asked was this being extended to my sister for whom I bought a ticket and who shared my terrible experience.... No response...

Rang in this morning. They are not ofering my sister a free ticket even though I supplied proof of purchase of 2 tickets as she did not write a letter.

I asked why it took over 1 month to get back to my email and why they had not acknowledged my letter when a suitable response was promised withing 5 days of receiving my email. They had no answer and started saying they were not making excuses but were busy with U2 in Croke park.

So I get 1 free ticket and a load of excuses as to whey they failed to get back to me.

    We are obviously valued customers

MCD aren't offering the free tickets out of the kindness either - the tickets for that gig aren't selling, so I guess they want to try and at least half fill the place.

Yeah they have not sold many tickets. They are even advertising the gig on TV and they never do that.

Are you surprised? these guys know how to charge the very highest ticket prices but get away time after time with shoddy service. They were hoping the Slane debacle would just go away and, in the past, this type of thing did. After the few days of media exposure on Joe Duffy and the like everybody forgot about these things.
MCD are in the strong position that they have no competition for the provision of the particular service they provide. I have had a few incidents over the years where I considered complaining about issues at concerts. Also, smaller things like position of screens. We paid €92.50 for tickets for Springsteen and could not see the screens from about halfway up the pitch!! Also, we are we told on tickets that the price includes a booking fee yet we are charged circa €6 “Handling Fee” and the price is per ticket whether you buy 1 or 4!

I don’t buy the excuse that they were busy with U2 in Croke Park – MCD should be sufficiently structured to continue to deal with issues from previous shows whenever new shows are on. We are not talking about a ballroom in a small town – we are talking about big shows of upwards of 80,000 people with people charged about €100 per ticket and huge sales from other businesses at the concert. The implication of that statement is that it’s a small office with everyone out the U2 gig. Surely even MCD are more professional than that.

P.S. we had better be careful about what we say here, I think they threatened legal action against the site before.

I got the same email. I sent off proof of purchase for my Slane ticket in order to claim FBS ticket. I think you misinterpreted the email. It didn't mention anything about refunding the price of a ticket for FBS if you had purchased one. That would make no sense to be honest as the tickets for that gig aren't selling well. Why therefore, would MCD offer freebies to people who have already bought tickets? I accept that the email was badly worded and could be interpreted in either way. And maybe I'm the one who misinterpreted it. Either way, I'm not forking out 70 quid for a ticket to FBS, refund or no refund.

    .

springsteen is an Aikens Promotions gig. The screens at that gig are unusually configured (like upside down T's) so it must be at the behest of artist production.

Your ticket does include the booking fee but the handing fee is a service charge that the ticket agent charges to process and get you your ticket.

Anyone get word back from MCD after sending proof of purchase? Need to know if what I sent is ok as I've already a free ticket lined up from a mate so I'll pass that on if I'm getting one from MCD.

I've not had word back from them since sending on proof of purchase... I'll ring them again today and deliver another tongue lashing.

Worst customer service I've experienced in a long time.

Info from them, I'm getting 8 tickets as my proof of purchase had 8 on it. Had to collect them out in Marlay Park.

did anyone here NOT get their Fatboy slim ticket?????????

I got the same mail from MCD, replied 2 hours after I got it with a screenshot from the Ticketmaster website where it shows past event tickets bought on the site.. never got the ticket from MCD.

I mailed back a week later asking was it a joke...offering people a nice gesture just to ignore it? maybe the screen shot wasnt sufficient but i didnt hear back from them at all to say send on a receipt or somethin? they grind my gears
