    wtf!!!???

Ankermann machines are selling on pixmania???

Ankermann is actaully a german shop which have a pretty woeful name!
People have reported buying machines without the actual components speced in the machine in the machine!
And even after all of that their prices are not great considering the usual rubbishy components within....

when you say video editing + stuff what do you mean by stuff and what's your budget like?

    really? so are they bad?

by stuff i mean, bit of photo editing, video editing and graphic design, and day to day use, no huge gaming to be done on it but mabye a little diablo 3 when it comes out

    budget is around 700

Well as far as i'm aware video and photo editing is very ram intensive...

You could post what you want your pc to be able to do and what resolution your monitor is on the building and upgrading forum.

A quad core phenom II with with DDR3 is very achievable with 700 and well that's what i'd recommend.
if you're on a mission to do this yourself i'll post a build here which i think would suit you well.

Please post you screen resolution though.

1280 x 1024 is my resolution, does that make a huge difference? I can hook up my pc to my 32" hdtv, and i'll more than likely get a second screen later on aswell

well i'd say 4gb or even 6gb would be enough ram for me, im running 1gb in a celeron core duo now and anything would be a huge improvement over that.

I'm not on a mission to do it myself but i'll build it myself if i have to but either way doesnt bother me

Well to be honest. I would buy a Mac for video stuff. The pc is excellent for a lot of tasks and I am a pc user. But the Mac is built for video work and it will cause you much less grief to buy one and use Final Cut Express which comes free with it?

Like I said, I use PC's all the time but if and when I can afford to do video work then I will get a Mac sitting next to my PC and I would use this Mac exclusively for video work.
