The surface came up after the Leinster final. If the Leinster final was a draw, it would have gone to Thurles for a replay.

The concert is due to finish at 11.

I'm guessing the prep work will start around 1am at the Davin end and work down as the stage makes its exit. It will probably take the guts of 24hours to get stage out of the way.

I know it sounds daft, but this kind of work is done all over the world all the time.

The day's on concerts taking place with people actually standing on the pitch are long gone - it's no longer an issue.

what is the problem with these residents? I'm sure most of them have lived there for years and should be well used to crowds before and after major events. What are they looking - more money, more tickets? I hope the Gardai get their fingers out and remove these people when they attempt their disruption. If they don't like it - move.

It's the prospect of 44 continuous hours of work being carried out that they don't want happening. I kinda agree with them in fairness. I know the concerts took place in the middle of Championship season, and a new pitch needs to be relaid for Saturday's games, but having a 44 hour construction site with it's accompanying convoy of workers and vehicles is a little inconsiderate imo.

i wonder what would be the implications if the pitch cuts up after sunday, so much that the games on MOnday cant go ahead?

if we got some of the rain this week i.e. wednesday & thursday while pitch is being relaid and then during the games, that we have gotten over the past few weeks, then i think there could be serious problems.

I think the gaa will have to take another look at this idea of allowing concerts mid championship. the games should always be priority.

These idiot residents - staying up all night to protest at maybe being kept awake due to the noise!
Jaysus, really pisses me off when people (who get a lot of tickets etc) protest when the gigs are over. I cant see how the pitch will be in good condition on Sun / mon.

Ah jesus please dont start on that. its mud and grass and thats it. Dont care about the fact that its brit soil but more care that they could have given the work to an Irish company in these hard times. I know the majority of the work is being done by Irish companies but would have been good if they allowed one of ours supply the turf also. Presume the people they are going with just have better quality tho and with the time constraints it may be for the best. When i saw the headline about the finals being played on brit soil i was mesmurised as i presumed there was some crazy change of venue. When i saw what it actually was i was more mesmurised that it made the headlines.

Saw it a good while back. Some FF polotician in Offaly was it that brought it up i think. Id say just trying to point score with die hard elements of the GAA. Not working tho :D
