A high street fashion chain is investigating claims that staff members had sex romps in ones of its stores.

H&M shop workers in Cardiff were allegedly involved in sexual shenanigans in the stock room and staff room, just yards from customers looking for bargains.

The Swedish clothing giant has launched an immediate investigation into the lurid claims and is taking the allegations "extremely seriously".

The story came to light after a source at the Welsh shop contacted a local newspaper and described what was allegedly taking place behind the 'staff only' doors.

"Staff have been actively engaging in sexual activities throughout the working day, often with customers no more than a few feet away," the source told Wales on Sunday.

"Some staff are regularly taking breaks to the staff room, toilets, stock room and even the shop floor to carry out these scandalous activities."

A spokeswoman for H&M told Sky News Online: "H&M is investigating these unacceptable allegations regarding our Cardiff store.

"No H&M employees in the Cardiff store have been dismissed, however we take all allegations extremely seriously."

When Sky contacted the Cardiff store, the manager - who would only give her name as Debra - refused to discuss the sexual allegations.

"I don't really have any comment I'm afraid," she said before hanging up.

H&M opened its first store in 1947 in Sweden. It now employs 73,000 people in 1,800 shops across the world.

I'm sick of hearing storeys like this. I always have to hear about these work places where everybody sleeps with everybody else, kinky toilet/stockroom/desk/boss's car sex and everybody getting into a big orgy every Christmas.

And years of searching I can't find a job like this. They don't exist. There a urban myth. This is a pr stunt so people flock to the local shop to see the kinky staff sex.

And the worst part? I'm sure all the staff at H&M in Cardiff are feeling quite dejected that they were left out.

I don't know what the problem here is. A happy employee is a productive employee and I bet there are a lot of happy employees in that store... plus having to deal with customers is stressing, so these employees can use these breaks for stress relief and as a result are then walking around with smiles on their faces, this then radiates onto the customers, hence more sales. Win win situation in my book!
