    Hi-

My place of week is closing for an extra week for the summer break.

I am not being offered pay for this week & tbh not being offered information either..

Should I sign on for a week to keep the "stamp" up?

    Yes.

You will need some paperwork from your employer to do this. Dunno exactly what, but I'm sure you'll need something.

(It may seem trivial now, but you never know what might happen later in the year. And if something goes wrong in your life in 2011, having "stamps" from 2009 may be very important.)

you should talk to social welfare for your options but I do not think you can claim for one week, I think there is some sort of minimum period

in relation to stamps I think you need 38 in a year (again you can check this) so one missing is not a concern

I think you cannot sign on for the first three days

    It's different for different benefits.

Missing one is not a concern. But at this stage of the year, you just don't know what will happen later on: if they're making you take a week's unpaid leave now, what might happen to them in September???
