It is a very, very odd film. Pretty much just a succession of increasingly grotesque images (
a man`s penis getting pecked by a chicken has he has it stuck through a hole, amongst many others
), with a strange multi-generational narrative thrown in for good measure. It isnt a bad film per say, but neither is it a fantastic one - I thought it felt a bit disjointed for the most part. It is just a hugely unusual, well made, occasionally shocking and oddball slice of "extreme" cinema that is worth a watch just out of curiosity.

I saw it on Film Four on the weekend. It was very bizarre.

It's split into three parts about the middle ages of a man, his son and then his son's son: the first part was the most disturbing I found,
the "I'm flying" and beastiality scenes spring to mind
the second part is more realistic and believable and the final part is kind of in between.

It's bizarre and odd. It's an interesting approach and it does kind of work but it requires a lot of concentration (not just for the subtitles).
