I suppose the answer is to clean rentals or buy your own mask.

So far though Ireland hasn't had a widespread infection, it may well be contained here.

Im taken... and careful, he reads this...

As for cleaning rentals... woudlnt you have to ask them first before you hose them down? and do you do this before or after taking thier money?

I am not a doctor, but I think a rub with an alcohol wipe would probably be sufficient.

there is a good few cases out there...thing is, its been blown out of proportion..anyone who has died from it has had underlying medical probs, normal flu kills as many people a year if left untreated...a doctor in one of the dublin hospotals told me on friday night that 90% of our population will have had it before christmas...no need to be alarmed though, its just another strain of flu...if you feel symptoms coming on, get medical attention asap and you'll be brand new ;)

on the mask rental side of things..an alcohol wipe is more than sufficient, its what we use to decontaminate the ambulances and fire engines

    hope this helps

when it comes down to it site should be wiping down masks anyway as a matter of course already not due to swine flu but just beacuse its the good sensible thing to do, but your best bet if your renting to to purchase your own mask or carry wipes

the debate on swine flu is for somewhere else on boards i would say, but your still far far more likely to catch a normal strain of flu and have complication from that

Precicely... theres always the temptation to panic when this sort of thing arrises. Most cases have been in the at risk group, ie, young children, or the elderly, who are most at risk of death from normal flu also... OR, those with conditions or suceptability for some reason. Yes, its nasty sounding, but in reality its not exactly smallpox..

All this is fine and well. But the important question is, do we ask rentals consent before we hose them down, the duuurty blighters .... :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,205 ✭✭✭Firekitten

*sigh* Its always one that brings the tone down... *tut tut*

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,659 ✭✭✭CrazyRabbit

On a serious note...I know of one site that cleans the rental masks with disinfectant at the end of the day.

Oh, and odds of even getting this overhyped flu is about the same as getting hit by a car whilst crossing the street.

Have a look at that, it won't kill you.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,205 ✭✭✭Firekitten

However... unlike 1918... we have vastly improved medical care.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,758 ✭✭✭Stercus Accidit

And easier ways for the bug to transport.

The video is just a little food for thought.

its point isnt the spread of infection, but the fact its victim profile was different to now...

now, yes, most young people are vacinated and can survive flu, in 1918, even the common flu was much more fatal... now its only the young and older that are more at risk... (well including asthmatics etc) due to thier imune response or impared function in some way...

Things are different entirely, its lovely food for thought, but the dish doesnt quite go with the rest of the meal.

then again in 1918 one infected carryer on a plane going into a hub airport could not send infected people on connected flights to 15 + country

    swings and round about,

but yes all over hyped if it was not for miss reporting of the flu killing 200 when infact it kill 20 we would not know the name of it and it would have just been treated as a normal strain of flu by gps

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,321 ✭✭✭Daz1214

but thats the thing, its just another strain of influenza, not a super bug

bird flu has been forgotten bout at this stage but it was a deadly killer only a couple of years ago

As train wreck threads go this one is right up there, as puding said back in post 13 clean the mask if your really worried bring some wipes clean it yourself and if your really worried wear latex gloves and dust mask, this thread stopped been about airsoft 22 posts ago

If you are worried about contracting swine flu, HIV, AIDs or any of those nasty things, buy your own mask...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,205 ✭✭✭Firekitten

    Dont ever play airsoft...

You may contract a condition fatal to your wallet... Airsofteritis...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,758 ✭✭✭Stercus Accidit

Anyone oinking is to be avoided at all costs, even more so than usual, its hardly normal behaviour after all.

No but hundreds of thousands of soldiers being de-mobbed and shipped to every corner of the planet from huge camps was one of the main reasons for the spread and severity of the pandemic.

and as i said 'swings and roundabouts' , you could go back and forth for ages, stats can be interpreted many different way and examples can be draged up from everywhere, a point - counter point argument could go on for ages and is pointless

this has nothing to do with airsoft anyway

where you got all that from what i said i have no idea, i never mention you in my post yes swine flu is out there and it is a concern for all of us and some very simple steps will help to prevent the spread of it. when i said it stopped being about airsoft i was refering to the ramblings about the virus. you opening post was a valid question but again how u think i was having a go at you individually remains a mystery to me.

Ticks are something which can happen via airsoft because of the enviorment you're rolling around in with your AEGs.

Swine flu is a little less airsoft orientated. Sure, people rent gear...but I would imagine you're just as likely to have it transmitted via a sneeze on the bus. You're probably not going to get bitten by a tick on the bus. (Well, I hope to **** not)

Anyway, thread has reached it's conclusion I think.
