Yea selling is pretty easy just follow the steps the charges work on what price you set, a buy it now price is more expensive than an aution that starts at 0cent but there is less risk of selling your stuff for 1 cent ( i had that happen with a xbox 360 game i got 50 cent for ).

P&P works on weight so its hard to say what it will cost. clothes will be light but bulky parcels. Id say stick a fiver as P&P on the first listing see how it goes. You can ajust it then in your other sales.

Depends on where you're going to post to aswell. If you keep it to Ireland only, it'll be cheaper, but you'll have a smaller buyer base. If you're going to use standard post, then you'll have no protection in the event of it getting lost or the buyer pulling a scam, and you'll be out of pocket. Registered post internationally (even UK) is going to be quite a bit more expensive.

Check out the rates on An Post's website.

Right so postage will vary so. My aunt and cousin gave me their wedding dresses, can keep the profit from them. They're gorgeous!

The golden rule is to charge P&P at a level that doesn't result in a loss to you and won't encourage a feeling of being ripped off by the buyer. It can take a lot of common sense to find the balance unless the items are weighing the same i.e. CDs etc. :)

If your P&P listings look expensive, it might not be a bad idea to include any receipts you get from An Post and whatever place you buy your packaging from to prove to the buyer that you're not screwing them.

Yes, it cost me €35 to send a package to germany, the item was like a a DVD player, then packaging would have costed more if I had to buy it. Postage can very expensive. Some clothes can weigh a lot.

Unforunately from reading forums this is true, people are ignorant of how ebay works. Personally I seek out people charging outrageously high postage, its 2 fingers to ebay/paypal.

If you postage really is €5 on an item, and you quote €105 all you have done is cover yourself on postage, and in effect created an opening bid of €100. i.e. if somebody bids €1 they really bid €101.

This cuts out paypals profits. When you sell on ebay you have to pay ebay a percentage of the selling price, BUT THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE POSTAGE.

So say ebay take 4% of the selling price. So in my example above if I quoted €5 to cover myself, I would have to have an opening bid of €104.17 to make the same profit, since ebay will take ~4% of that €104.17 reducing it to €100. So if I "mask" it in the postage they get nothing. So I and more importantly (and often not realised) THE BUYER both benefit.

This is why I search for high postage, I know that if there are 2 sellers buying from the same supplier and working on the same margin then the high postage one can offer it cheaper. In fact I have often found the same seller doing this with mulitple buyitnow auctions, he sells the same stuff on 2 auctions and the higher postage one is cheaper.

So do ebay take a percentage of what you make after you sell an item?..the only cost I've seen from e-bay is for the amount of photos you put up or if you chose 'buy it now'.
