    HI,

I have a question about expenses related to mileage in a personal car.

The employer sends out the mileage rates for each year beginning March. The rates are for up to 6,000km is 50 something cent and after 6,001km it drops to 20 something cent.

Is the milage reset each year? For example, lets say at the end of this tax year I have travelled 7,000km and I am being paid on the lower rate. In the new tax year will I reset to 0km and accumulate at the higher rate and then drop to the lower.

    Cheers!

Civil Service usually dont change the mileage rates annually but employer can if they wish once they are within the civil service recommended rates.
They way it would usually work is that mileage up to 6000km is at the higher rate and only the mileage over and above this is at the lower rate. This would reset each tax year
