I was in work the other day and its split between people from south tipp and north tipp, one of the girls was bringing her boyfriend up from Cork and was wondering is there anything that he can be shown? Some of the usuals were suggested like the Rock of Cashel and the devils bit,but other than that is there anything out there that people can be shown or go to? then the conversation turned into from a south tipp man"sure theres nothin to do in north tipp except down to south tipp"

Over to you guys for suggestions!

There's nothing at all lol perhaps visiting Kilkenny might be an option.

Although if you want to go our for meals there's a few ok places.
What's a shame is that Tipp has other castles and wee towers dotted around everywhere but they are gone to ruins, some so overgrown you can barely see them. Pity they aren't all kept properly and a proper tourist trail made it would bring something to the county.

dya know what your right, roscrea has a castle, but apart from that theres tons of castles gone to ruin like just outside littleton and killenaule there are towers that are falling apart, its a great shame that this has happened, its part of our past and who we are

Was in Templemore park the other week, it's a pretty small park but had no idea there was a wee castle there by the road. Not until someone pointed it out and I looked up, it's covered in foliage such a shame.

There's even a round tower down the road from us and one of those ..no idea what they're called like little watch tower things it's in bits the crows use it on top and cows use it to try and shelter in.

Oh just remembered it's not all bad if anyone is into nature or even just a place to have a picnic and a walk about Cabra Wetlands might be worth a visit.

Tourists can be annoying at times but they do bring a bit of life into a place, used to live near Glendalough and although they would drive you a bit mad in the summer and the traffic etc. it really did add something to the surrounding area.

A drive through the Glen of Aherlow.
    Holy Cross abbey.
    Horse-racing.

as you leave the castle drive up to the square and turn right in the square, it's what's called a cottage orné.

don't rule out the Mitchelstown caves, despite the title they are in Tipp.

if you have time to drive over the Nire and back by the Vee, you'll get plenty scenery.
