Seriously, a year younger than Armstrong when he won his first tour and he has already won two tours, the Giro and the Vuelta:eek:

Thats some going. So how good can he be? Potentially the greatest of all time? Could he one day be mentioned in the same breath as Eddie Merckx?

It looks like his main competition in coming years will be from Andy Schleck. They should have some epic battles together but at the moment he just looks a class above.

So do people think he can dominate for years to come or will the competition prove too stiff?

I think it's unlikely anyone could dominate the sport these days like Merckx did in his prime. However it would be nice to see a rider who would even attempt a clean sweep of the jerseys. Obviously it's not in Bruyneel's game plan but to have so much talent gathered in one team and still be relentlessly focussed on just the win on GC...it's percentage play but it's pretty boring and kind of unambitious.

They didn't really have anyone for the green jersey on the team, Kloden could have given a good bash off the pokadot jersey, but without him i don't think lance would have come anything close to third(mind you without lance i think kloden would be on the podium, though the press does seem to be blaming contador for that)

He'll be the best until he gets caught or until he earns enough cash to keep control of the situation and make people afraid to challenge his authority.

The latter is highly unlikely with unparallelled superiority in the sport elsewhere.

    Pretty much impossible I'd say.
