Wicklow mountains

HI Im looking to start rockclimbing in the wicklow mountains, im livin in newbridge. Im a complete beginner, did it a handful of times in italy is all. Just wonderin if anyone knows of a club or someone i could contact about it??? Cheers!

Most people in the Dublin or surrounding areas would start their climbing in Dalkey. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dalkey_Quarry

I'd recommend a training course of some sort. There are plenty of commercial companies who'll offer tailor made courses or a one day introduction to climbing.

Do an intro course, get yourself into a club or find people with experience who are willing to pass on their knowledge..

Try www.irishmountaineeringclub.org. I met their training officer, Declan, in the hills the other day. They climb in Dalkey quarry and look for commited members.

There's a gym in Naas that has a good climbing wall, might be of interest to you as well.

UCD also has a wall open to the public. Always reasonably busy so good place to meet people.
