I'm not a natural gardener, in fact I'm finding it hard!!! I'm just starting out on a garden in a new house.

First thing I did was to put 2 buxus in pots by the front door. Now one of them has gone yellow. It's possible that it's windburn, but how do I get it back to green again? I've given it food but that's not helping. Bits of it are coming through green but the majority is still yellow. Do I need to cut it right back and wait for it to grow again?

    Any advise appreciated.

Give it some food with a high nitrogen content. Nitrogen is responsible for green strong healthy plants.

on the front or back of plant food products you will see something like

    N - P - K
    20-10-10

The letter is the chemical (N being nitrogen) and the number being the percentage of each chemical in the product. In my example, the product had a high nitrogen content compared to the other two. Id suggest finding a product with a N content of over 15

Try standing the plants in water with some fertiliser added. If very yellow might be more serious than 'windscorch'? I'd reckon if the leaf is substantially pale yellow and papery, chances are the plant is dead?

from what i have seen in my travels, it is a common complaint this year, also it is not confined to box.

Check the drainage in the pot to make sure it isn't waterlogged. Box can suffer from either under or overwatering.
