This film got slated when it was released and while its not a masterpiece like Bill and Ted or Waynes World I thought it was fun. In this way I think its comparable to Freddy got Fingered, not a classic like Road Movie but hugely under-rated and enjoyable nonetheless. In any case PoD was good entertainment fare, 6/10. This scene makes the entire film for me.

No mate it was horrible and thats coming from a massive d fan. I was so let down when i saw it at the cinema. Their episodes that were on hbo( they are on the concert dvd) were better but the movie was terrible

The movie just seemed to recycle a lot of ideas they'd already used in the previous album/tv shows, having said that, i still liked it, i just expected more from it.

The soundtrack is class though, Beelzeboss and Pagapenu are great tracks.

Since when are Bill and Ted + Waynes World masterpieces?

    Enjoyable,sure.
    Masterpieces,.

Yes masterpieces. Masterpieces in their own right.

A masterpiece, no. A cult classic, yeah. They're only special because of the content/attitude.

Tenacious D pick of destiny did just rehash a lot of their already used gags, which was a shame in a way. Considering the show wasn't available to everyone, the silver screen rendition was a good way to introduce people to it. They might have thought this could launch their show in broadcast areas it wasn't in previously. They could probably have gotten away with making the audience think that the show came after the film lol.

Horrible film. Love their music, I'm actually a fan of Jack Black as an actor also but no, this film was horrendous.

The only good thing about this film is that it gave us Tribute.

No it didnt. Tribute was pre PoD ;)

If you are a D fan then steer clear of the nonsense in PoD. instead get your hand on their DVD, "Masterworks". its 2 dvds. Lots of HBO shorts, a full concert, lots of extras and far funnier before the whole "everyone loves the D" phase took over.

Haven't seen this, might have a look if it is shown on TV. The name confused the heck out of me until I remembered that "pick" is American for "plectrum", the bit of plastic you use to strum a guitar.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

I thought it was good. I hadn't seen any of their other stuff so none of the gags were old material for me.

This is one of the best songs in it too, just for it's stupidity.

the film on the whole is poor but a couple of the songs such as kickapoo and blazeboss(spelling?) are class and a few of tne cameos such as ben stiller and tim robbins. "come here so i can cut you” really made me laugh

I was a big D fan around the time the film came out, but I hated the film - all off in terms of comic timing for the most part. Some of the tracks are great - Kickapoo prologue is a lot of fun, shame it is downhill from there, until the catchy final showdown - but didnt enjoy it as a film at all (then again, I dont know if Liam Lynch was ever going to direct a masterpiece based on his horrible, horrible United States of Whatever). Saw the concert in Dublin at the time of release though, which was pretty interesting and had ridiculously high production values. They tied in the story of the film to the concert, which made for a strange but relatively enjoyable gig.
