Free bets and how to get the bet from them

Okay every racing related site of any size seems to have ads for "free bets" anything from a tenner to a tonne. Now they ain't quite free as you have to open an account and place a bet to a certain value which they will then match up to the value of whatever the ad says.

Has anyone come up with any cunning betting strategies to make the free bet pay off? I was thinking about using it on the Pricewise thread, I haven't checked but I reckon PW/PW-E lands a winning bet once every 7/8 selections while they return a place bet that earns profit every 5 races or so. What I was thinking was as there are a good 10/12 offers availible, place a bet on one PW selection and place the free bet on the other. It might take a few days to work but over a week it might just return a decent amount bearing in mind the typical odds of PW horses. Could get lucky with say 2 winners and 3/4 others placed before running out of freebies.

    Thoughts?

There are tons of sites that you can get free bets from. I have said it before, it's probably the easiest way for somebody starting out to get a bankroll. All you have to do is place your free bet with the bookie lay it off with an exchange, rinse and repeat, within a few weeks you could quite easily make a few k.

It was great in the old days when you could open betting accounts online quite easy.

I have accounts with quite a few bookmakers but last year, I tried to avail of a free offer with the tote (UK). They let me lodge money easy enough, but suspended my account after 24 hours. They said I needed to send documents over (scanned passport etc) to prove my age. I still have thirty quid in the account as I haven't been arsed to get it back - which is foolish on my part. I will get it back soon though. I know that this is the norm nowadays and they are only following procedure - but a few years back, a credit card was good enough!

But if you have the documents to hand, I'm all for the freebies and there are some good ones out there.

All bookmakers will offer some form of free bet. I have a full list on my website betterpunt.com which I made for this very reason.

    A few points:
    • The best strategy is to have an account with everyone and avail of their free bets as much as possible.
    • At this stage, bookies have this well thought out, it's doubtful there's many loopholes left.
    • Bookmakers will vary their free bets for events, i.e. increased offers during Cheltenham, Ascot... It's worth keeping an eye on it.
    • Some bookmakers do deals with certain websites which means you can get extra free bets from these sites. You need to dig for them though.
Bookmakers will make it as difficult as possible for you to get your money 9 times out of 10. But as seen below have no problems taking it.

"They let me lodge money easy enough, but suspended my account after 24 hours. They said I needed to send documents over" ... indeed they did.

OLBG www.online-betting-guide.co.uk is one of the biggest betting sites out there, so all the bookies often give them the best deals/ exclusive offers which aren't open to other sites :D

    LMAO! Yes!
In terms of free bets and who is the most generous. Loads of the free bets out there you need to jump through hoops to get them and need a degree in betting to understand how to reclaim them. Paddy's have a good Bet£10 Get£20 which you can't go wrong with

Forgot to say Bet365 free bet is now £200

Thats pretty much totally untrue for all of the large UK associated bookies, Ladbrokes, Corals, Will Hill, BetFred.

Paddy's offer you mention is rubbish. Currently have an offer in The Racing Post offering a €100 free bet for a deposit on the phone service of €50.

I disagree with almost everything in this thread! I have availed of all these free bet offers over the years and never had any problem withdrawing. The odd one mostly American & Australian sites require a copy of credit card and passport but this only takes 5 mins.
