after trying to fade / get rid of most of the black dye in my hair and it has worked to a certain extent, i looked up some prelightener kits and to my look boots was selling L'Oreal Paris Super Blonde Prelightener kit, bought two boxes today and have just finished my 1st application. sadly all it has done is turn the bits where the brown had grown back blonde and had almost no affect at all on the actual length and ends of my hair frown.gif is this normal ? how long should i have to wait till i can do another application (i cannot find this info on the box) i dont wanna have to stay like this for long either, aarrg stressing out here, any help would be greatly appreciated redface.gif

    Ah two threads, very confusing!

Anyway, I've found the pre-lightening kit to be useless.

I've used the Jerome Russell Bleaching Kit with great success. Please be careful and get yerself some Aussie 3-Minute Miracle conditioner for coloured hair or the Miracle Moist one. Your hair will turn a random assortment of browns, greens, reds, oranges etc so have the new colour you want at the ready.

Also note that if you put on Ash Brown/blonde dyes over bleached hair, it will turn greeny-grey.

Sounds like the ends of your hair are really porous, I'd be very careful about putting anything else on it. The ends of your hair are probably so porous that the black dye is stuck to it and probably won't come out.

A job like stripping colour is really best done by a professional colourist, I know it costs a fortune but you could end up with the ends of your hair breaking off if you use too many chemicals.

If I had dark colour I used to use Clinic shampoo or washing up liquid, it tends to strip the colour but also has your hair in bits, so you need lots of conditioner. Your hair may already be too over processed to do this.

A semi-permanent/6week colour over all now might be the option, maybe a mid brown, will get rid of the blonde roots. Will also add shine.

This is only my opinion, I can't really advise you correctly without seeing your hair. But I would stress too many chemicals can be harmful to your hair!

With black dye it won't come out properly unless you get it stripped professionally. Head and Shoulders shampoo is really strong and a couple of hairdressers I know recommend using this to help strip and fade the colour if you can't afford the professionals!

hey thanks for your reply, i always use H&S as my shampoo & conditioner ive managed to fade the black colour as much as possible but it had gone black with really noticeable brown roots, got quoted at my hairdressers and its far too expensive for me at the mo :(

The black colour is unlikely to lift with a home prelightener. You'll really need to go to the hairdressers to get it sorted, I'm afraid. That or let it grow out.
