    Hey Guys,

I currently have an N95 8GB, Which is good don't get me wrong but it doesn't have a lot of applications going for it which is a let down and its wifi is the most annoying feature.

I was thinking of getting an IPhone 3GS instead and I was wondering as there are thousands of apps, Do you ever get bored of the apps ? Do you ever run out of new apps to find ? (Would have it unlocked) I know with the N95, there's not a whole lot :(

I have never used an IPhone before so I don't know what it is like (How could I have never used one, I know :o) . Does it get boring ? I know the camera is not great but it does have GPS which is good (Which is meh on the N95 with slow cold starts etc) Is it impressive ?. Is the wifi impressive on it ? On the N95 the wifi can be troublesome, timing out and such.

If anyone has had an N95 and an IPhone, There comments would be greatly appreciated. Any feedback is great. Originally posted this in Yahoo answers where I didnt get much back so it may sound weird for a thread :p

    Thanks,
    Barry.

The wifi is great it searchs for wifi first then if it cant find any it uses 3g. I have wifi in the house and its pretty fast surfing , email and skype etc. Between the apps in the appstore and on cydua if you jailbreak you will never get bored. ITs no comparison between it and the nokia phones. Everything is just so easy and usable on the iphone whereas with nokia somethings like wifi and gps where a chore.

Had an n95 8gb. Felt it was superior to iPhone at time and vodafone had a good offer on. N95 was definately the best phone I've had to up to then but as you say the lack of apps etc can lead you to look at what else is on offer. I was interested in nokia n97 and palm pre but when new iPhone was launched I went for that. Sold my n95 for €180 and picked up iPhone on launch day. I was without my n95 for a wk before I got new phone and had some seller's remorse. It was a great phone and in good nick. But it was quicky forgotten when I picked up Iphone. It is a great piece of kit. Web browsing is infinitely better, so many useful, funny free/cheap apps and games. Video recording is very good too. There are some things I miss about the nokia such as Bluetooth sync and the nokia can be more customised for ringtones etc. My advice is cash in on n95 while you can and get new iPhone. You won't regret it

dont suppose you've jailbroken that iphone yet . would advise it lets you customise your iphone in many different ways its pretty easy too also on the ringtones these are very easy to make out of your own music on itunes http://www.ehow.com/how_2160460_custom-iphone-ringtones-free.html theres a link for it . also theres a link to jailbreak iphone 3gs http://www.modmyi.com/forums/iphone-news/666361-how-jailbreak-iphone-3gs-3-0-redsn0w-windows.html

Another N95 8GB to iPhone convert here. I definitely wouldn't go back! I never warmed to the Nokia. Clunky interface, slow (e.g. even opening a text message), and as you say, the WiFi and GPS are both clunky and slow on it too. I was disappointed with it from day one, cos before I'd gotten it I'd only heard great things about it!

The iPhone on the other hand is the opposite to all the above. It seamlessly connects to a wifi connection, the GPS gets a lock on your position within seconds, it has a fantastic user interface, it's great!

    Only real downsides for me
    - I'm still getting used to the touch-screen for typing texts, I do miss a proper keypad occasionally.
    - I hate getting the screen smudged! Kinda difficult to avoid that one :pac:
    - I'm paranoid about dropping it, cos it doesn't feel as robust as your average Nokia.

Just went from the N95 to the 3gs there on Saturday. Its my first non Nokia in years. I was carrying round the 95 and ipod touch so it made sense to combine them. My brother who uses an N95 8Gb is pretty much sold on it as well, and my other brother whos job gives them blackberrys is thinking of getting one.

The apps do add alot to it. The camera isnt as bad as I expected it to be, but I barely used the camera on the N95 anyway.

It seems a lot of N95 users are making the change to iPhone but are worried because the N95 is so good. I include myself in this, I love my N95 but have decided I am definitely going for an iPhone. Hopefully I won't regret it, the N95 really has been my favourite phone so far...

Thanks for all the replies guys. I can't say I ever really 'loved' my N95, Like one of the posters, I only heard great things about it and got it. I was dissapointed overall to be honest. The only Nokia ever to really spark my excitment was the N-Gage, which the reviewers gave it a 'meh' :D I thought it was an excellent bit of kit, unfortunatley the N-Gage 2.0 is crap, the games are just more churned out java-like crap and the Ovi store is pathetic :(

I've gone from the N95 to the 3GS in the past few weeks and I'm almost sad to admit that the 3GS blows the N95 away. I don't like Apple or their business practices, but there comes a stage when you have to acknowledge that they are a generation ahead in the smartphone war and there's not much point fighting it.

I had hoped the N97 would have been a great device but the reviews and the videos of the UI are atrocious.

The iPhone is snappier, it's fun to use, surfing and reading email is a pleasure. Games are fun and I don't need to read an N-Gage manual to figure out how to install them. The GPS has a fast lock and there are lots of apps to choose from. The apps you can get are generally polished and relatively cheap, the N95 has lots of apps but I was often disappointed with the professionalism.

    There are downsides I've found
    - Recording video on the N95 is better, but I never used this much.
    - Can't cache maps (big problem if you travel) - although there are some jailbreak maps which allow this
    - It does seem a lot more fragile than the N95 physically

The Iphone isint a cheap device though, hopefully after I sell my N95 and a few other things, I will feel better about buying one. Has to be Pay as you go, Not getting roped into bill pay, Not that I can until im 18 soon anyway :P.

I Just hope devs keep making apps for it etc. The N95 is like having a nice PC with very little software :(

Do they have an IPhone to test in o2 stores ? Like on display. All great about the 3gs but would be a tad premature to buy one without trying one out ! :D

How is the Iphone build ? If I drop it on the floor, will it be ok. I'd hope it would be sturdy enough. Is it a glass or plastic screen ?

Glass. It has to be glass because plastic touch screens are SH1TE. You can get protective cases and stuff but I wouldn't be confident of the iphone coming away unscathed from a drop onto a hard floor.

    Well ive sold my N95 8GB :)

Now I would like advice. My uncle is coming back from Boston next Friday, The IPhone 32GB over there is like 490€ (I think :) ) no contract from what I have calculated. Would you recommend I get him to get me one or buy it here ? I know I can unlock it, but are there any other issues I could be faced with etc.

    Thanks.
