Hip Pain

Hi. Does anybody know if there is any link between hip pain and cycling.
For the past month I have had some horrendous hip pain, though strangely never on the bike. About the only thing I can do without the pain is cycle, however it does hurt to throw the leg over the bike.

Mostly it hurts when walking, driving, swimming and even getting out of bad.

Now I am going to see doctor, get scan etc. But I would like to know if anyone had serious hip pain related to their cycling.

The pain is sort of like a delayed reaction. Once I move my body, my hip responds a second later, resulting in an excruciating pain and then an aftermath of throbbing.

That is a groin strain/torn groin, I have torn it badly on either leg 6 times in the last 7 years. Nothing to do with cycling though, always GAA related. It is very difficult to damage it without doing circular motions. Going down a stairs is a big problem.

I also had horrendous hip pain but never felt better whilst cycling, after osteopath, chiropractor, physio and all the other money grabbers i saw a surgeon who specialises in sports injuries - sent me for MRI which confirmed an extruded disk pressing on nerve, every case is different but this one is getting worse and immediate surgery is required.
To be fair to the surgeon he did recommend physio but if it doesn't improve after two or three sessions - forget it.
Hopefully you've nothing like this ROK ON but i thought i'd mention it with the similarity of painless cycling.

tore my groin, with similar consequences several times in the last year....
lesson stay off the fixie. but i recommend the sports surgery clinic if your considering physio.
