I got a letter from Sky yesterday telling me that from the 1st September their prices will be reduced. How much all depends what package you have. But I'll save a whopping 1.50 euro on the package I have which is 4 mixes, HD, and the Movies. Anybody else get this letter.

It's not a joke or anything like that, they clearly state that my prices are to be reduced. This is what it says. As a valued Sky customer, we've got good news for you. From 1st of Sept, they'll be a decrease in your monthly Sky TV sub. I'll try and copy it in full and post it later.

From September the prices are going up and again on Jan 1st due to VAT in UK

Cause being a sales rep for Sky I know its going up and not down in Sept..AFAIK its going back to the price it was b4 it was reduced in Jan. And again in Jan it is going to increase due to the VAT change in the UK. :D

"Packages currently €20.50 - €69.50 a month (€21.50 - €71.50 from 1/9/09). Due to VAT change from 1/1/10 Sky TV packages increase by €1 or by €1.50 if you have both Sky Movies & Sky Sports Packs. HD pack and Multiroom prices increase by 25c a month."

Proof of this is here: https://skyireland.sky.com/roi/site/tvpackages (scroll to bottom of page)

All I know is that I once accepted a package for 3months special offer. I paid up front. It was so difficult to stop it. The bills kept coming and there was always some excuse why they couldnt terminate it.

I cant see the link but I was able to read it from the email alert.

I dont understand. It says they are reducing your payment down to €43 but goes on to say that your monthly sub will be €57.75

It's probably too big, in size, to show up here on Boards (it doesn't for me, anyway), so here's a link to the letter scan.

I was on to sky the other day and I was told that the cost will be going up from this Sept. I was told this was down to them not adding the .5% when the vat was increased.

This is ludicrous as prices all around us are coming down.

LOL I like the way you scribbled over your name, address and account number but failed to scribble your a/c number near the bottom of the page. Also that was sent in with your Sky mag..and it also stated that there is an increase in Jan.:D

Yes a silly mistake I've deleted it. It wasn't sent with my Sky mag. Every-one's bill will go up in Jan as the UK vat rate reverts to 17%.

Yes down from just under 45 euro then add on Sky HD at 14.75 euro that's how it's 57.75 euro. Anyway the bottom line is they have reduced my bill, I know it's not by much but at least it has come down.
