The Majors always get a massive interest and noticed a few other souls on here like punting on golf so decided instead of just having threads fo the big events we could post here every weekend. If it kicks off happy days, if not, who cares.

Over last couple of months most of my punting has been on golf bar the two weeks of Wimbledon. Had an unbelievable run of near misses and still chasing that elusive transatlantic double so hopefully we can find a few winers before the footballl kicks off again. Of course the weekend I picked the winning double (Ogilvy at 33/1 in Match-play and Jaidee @ 18/1 in Indonesia) was the weekend before I started doing it :p

Anyway, bit of aftertiming here but need to kick off somewhere.

    Seniors Open - Bernhard Langer @ 11/2
    SAS Masters - Niclas Fasth @ 25/1
    Canadian Open - Camilo Villegas @ 18/1

Small stakes e/w patent and smaller stakes e/w treble, not greedy, three places will be a week's wages more or less. Will be more than happy with that. Villegas in good position although would prefer if he didn't have to strat his second round half an hour after his super first. Funk seems to have the Seniors wrapped up but good recovery today by Langer so hopng he can edge into top five. Fasth going along steady enough so confident he can get a place, won't be winning though.

Yeah I have got into my Golf betting recently, and I have Tom Watson at 16/1 E/W at the Seniors Open,

no real hope of it coming in, but you never know :)...

I got Villegas at 14/1 each way. Disappointing second round, but he's tied for 6th at 10 under, here's hoping, top 4 please !!!

Can't be too disappointed with it. I was happy he got in under par considering he got less than thirty minutes rest after his first round. 36 holes again today but at least everybody's in the same boat and he's only three off lead. Fasth has put himself into contention this morning too for the Swedish part of my bet. Tied 6th, three off leader through five.

Bookies love Golf Betting. Think of a 120 runner horse race with absolutely no form to go on. A golfer could win one week but miss the cut the following week.

Where do you get no form from? There are world rankings, tour rankings or money lists. Mountains of stats on previous tournaments, previous seasons, courses, etc.

It's usually 156 but anyway, there's an absolute abundance of form to go on.

Would be very intrested in this, as far as the stats mentioned Collie D, what sites do you use? Do you pay for any dedicated golf sites that give form stats?

No need to waste money on sites. All the form is there on the tour websites www.pgatour.com or www.europeantour.com

Plenty of stats, player bios, etc... Also tipsters galore on internet to search other people's opinions. I wouldn't go paying anything for info when all I'm sticking on is a tenner each way per tournament and it's all readily available. At the end of the day as pointed out golf betting is a bit of a lottery but the right info can point you in right direction. However, it doesn't guarantee success and nobody can know everything so paying for golf tips is IMO money down the drain. I wouldn't pay for racing tips either but at least with these, the tipster might have some genuine info

Form can be useful in Golf, but it can't be trusted. They're playing on different courses every week and not all golfers play well on all courses.

Form is taken to include how they play on that particular course, or a course of a similiar nature.

Which is still not reliable. Everything should of course be taken into consideration, but there's not many people out there consistantly making money from golf.

No information in sports betting is totally reliable otherwise no bets would be placed. There are always 2 sides to the equation. It's not about it being totally reliable, it's about making the best of the information available to you and thus generating a bet which in your view represents value.

Is any form completely reliable? That's why it's called gambling
