wifitrak - is it worth it ?

    Going to France soon.

I think I will google to find out where there are free (and maybe paid) wifi hotspots near where I am going.

I often see wifitrak high on the listings for iPhone utilities (paid).
Certainly in Ireland the majority of wifi networks are secured and have WEP/WPK keys.

So - I don't really get WifiTrak as I see it of being of limited use.
Is there more to it than hunting for (very rare) free wifi hotspots ?

I dont think its worth it to be honest.....I have an app called "hotspots" on mine and again it shows all the paid or free hotspots closest to you. I could be wrong but I think it was a free app too.

My issue is one of expectations.
My hunch is that free wifi hotspots are rare and where they do occur they
are advertised. Maybe this app does more than just hunts for free wifi networks. In any case I'd need to be within close range in order for the app to discover the free networks.

Ok. It may actually be useful given that mucking with the settings app on the iPhone is fairly fiddly. Sounds like it simplifies connecting.

    thanks!
