Well I finished college in may and ive been actively looking for a job ever since. Ive had a few interviews but nothings materialised. I am considering signing on because I have been practically broke since i've left college. I am wondering how to go about it and would I be able to backdate to the start of june? Its all a bit jargony so if someone could help i'd very much appreciate it..
    Thanks

Isn't there something about not being able to apply until you've been disengaged (e.g. like a cooling off period?) from college for x number of months? Or at least until you get your results? I hope you get it, feel your paiN!

I don't think anyone can truly answer that here except to say maybe. It's very vague in the info on the welfare.ie site, I think you'll need to have a legitimate reason (perhaps a med cert or along those lines) for not applying the day (it says it somewhere) you were let go in order to have it backdated. Go through the checklist and make sure to bring as much as possible of that requested with you, including P60 and P45 if you can at all. Judging from the other (anecdotal mind) thread on waiting times, you could be waiting anywhere from 2 week to 5/6 months.

No, as long as you are finished your college course you're eligible from the day of your last exam.

You're not allowed to claim for ~3 months following leaving secondary school.
