    Hi there

I am considering doing the following subjects next on the ACCA course with Griffith College Dublin:
    F5 - Performance Management
    F7 - Financial Reporting
    F8 - Audit and Assurance

I would appreciate some help in relation to the following questions that I have:
    1. Would you recommend doing any of the above subjects by yourself rather than attending the lectures? Was thinking of cutting out an evening and also on cost;
    2. If so, which subject would you recommend studying by yourself?
    3. Given that there is a month until the course will commence, can you recommend any tips for advanced reading that I could do before the course begins? I
    4. What are the lecturers like for these three subjects at Griffith College Dublin?
Look forward to hearing any comments that you may have and thanks in advance.......

I did F8 by myself and passed first time with 56%. This is 100% pure theory, no workings at all. I do work in Audit so that may be a contributing factor, but generally, this subject is best studied by reading the book and doing past exam questions

Given that there is a month until the course will commence, can you recommend any tips for advanced reading that I could do before the course begins? I
Print off all the Past exams questions and answers from the ACCA website for all the subjects that you've mentioned. Read the questions and study the answers. You should start to see a patern emerging for each subject and the style of how the answer should appear.

Never went there. But David Ahearn in BPP for F7 is top notch. I reccommend that you go to class for this one, it's 90% workings, and it's difficult!

You could also have a look at opentuition.net for their summary notes - it will give you a feel for the course content without going into the major detail

Many thanks for your helpful comments.

Thinking that I might try F8 - Audit and Assurance myself instead of going to class, although I don't have any previous experience of this subject.

Can you recommend any books / websites that I could use to find some relevant material on audit and assurance in general....

    Thanks

I did F8 myself and passed it first time too. Would definitely give it a try on your own. As another poster said it's 100% theory and I found it a very doable subject.
