Puppy Socialisation Cork

I was thinking of taking my 3 month old West Highland Pup to Puppy Socialisation classes in the Cork area. However they are very expensive at €80 for 4 weeks (one hour a week). I was wondering if there are any people in my area that would be interested in meeting up to do our own informal socialisation?

Pups would have to be fully vaccinated to do this. Please let me know if anyone else thinks that this is a good idea.

    I would I would!! :D

I have a 12 week fully vac'd puppy (as of tomo he's allowed venture outside the garden :D). He's a samoyed though so big puppy :)

Where did you find the puppy classes though? I could only find ones starting in September.

The classes that I found are in the Lough Community Centre. They start 23rd August. My little Pup - Harvey - has had his first Vaccinations. He will have his second ones on August 4th so we will be ready for socialising then. Where do you live in Cork? I am trying to think of the best place to meet up.

I think it would be great to give this socialisation a go. We can keep the pups on the leads to start with and see how we get on.

    Hi Guys,

I have an eight month old Shih Tzu (female) and in the process of buying a male at the moment. All going to plan we will be collecting him Satuday week (1st of Aug). I know it will be another few weeks before he's able to come with us but we are on for it if ye are.

Take your pups to the lee fields on the carrigrohane straight, the best socialisation they could find. Esp in the summer its always busy with dogs. unfortunately proper classes in cork are few an far between, deff a need for puppy socialisation with basic training. enjoy yourselves

That would be great. The more pups the more fun. (I hope!) My pup won't be ready until the 4th Aug to go out. I'll send you a PM with my details. The Lee fields is a good idea as it does have good space.

There's something going on in Mallow atm (hope it's ok to post this here) http://board.irishanimals.ie/index.php?showtopic=32033&hl=

The Cork and County Dog Club is starting an 8 week course of dog training through fun and games.
This is the group that I do Agility Training on Monday nights with, but they are doing general training through fun, games and doggie tricks for the summer.
All training is through positive training methods, and each dog is treated as an individual.

This would be suitable for any age, size, breed, sex or ability level of dog.
Classes start on Monday 6th July for 8 weeks.
The Venue is Hannon's Riding School, out past Mallow Golf Club.
    Time: 7 - 8 pm
All dogs must be fully vaccinated.
Further details and bookings - please phone 086-0782394

is there any classes for agility in limerick?

Not sure about Limerick, I think there is something at the garda college in Templemore but not sure about the training methods haven't looked into it.

We've just been to our first puppy class in Abbeyleix and the pup had a great time so anyone in the Laoise/Tipp/Kilkenny/Kildare areas might want to check out happier hounds. Looking forward to the next one, there's classes for adult dogs and agility too.

is this your first dog? i'm sure a few walks on the lead around where you live and then maybe around the Lough and he/she will be fine. spend your 80 euro on something else, i have a westhighland and they can be high maintenance :D

I have a 19 week old (4.5 month) Boxer puppy in Cork who could so with some more socialisation so I'd be interested. Unfortunately my days off are Tues-Thurs each week, so I'd be most interested in those days if anyone wanted to meet up then.

She's a big puppy, but so far has been friendly and exuberant with every single person and animal she has met, including dogs that have been irate with her, and my cats who were less than impressed at her arrival :D

Our little puppy social was a great success on Saturday.
All the pups had heaps of fun and if the others were anything like Gunnar exhausted! after it all :D

If anyone else is interested in coming along this Saturday pm me and I'll send you back the details of the when and where :)
Puppies must be fully vaccinated for this.

Some day I am going to adopt another dog Just so that I can get to meet Banjo and Luna,

At the moment I am not ready to adopt another one and I dont have the time at the moment for the care that a dog needs plus we still miss barney.

Maybe I could tag along with Jasper(The Cat) on this lead and Harness :p
