mods fire away and move this if ya see fit, just thought some ppl here would have done this before..

I need to take a bike on a transatlantic flight with me, specifically with Delta, if I manage to squeeze it into a bike box does it count as one piece of luggage or will they screw me over with loads of crazy charges? I'll probably call them before I go but I just thought I'd ask anyways.
    Cheers!

Best check it out with them directly. Bikes USED be free as part of your (generally 32kg) baggage allowance transatlantic but airlines have been cutting back... You used to get free food and drink on long haul flights too :)

Definitely check with the airline. I brought mine over on Aer Lingus and it cost nothing, just counted as part of my baggage allowance. This was a few years ago though.

AerLingus, BA and some others don't charge for bikes specifically and treat it as luggage.

    Delta charge $300 each way.
