Engine wanted...

I'm on the look out for an engine, along with a few body panels, for my Micra K10 (I know it may not be a 'classic' yet, but they are getting rarer nowadays) Given they are fairly old cars now, most scrapyards don't stock them anymore. Does anyone know of somewhere that might stock such a car (mine is a 1990)? Thanks.

I'm located in the south Dublin area.

Good engines & cars are hard to find, as most of them have ended up as Class 1 (IIRC) autograss cars. Anybosy who builds them for autograss would have loads of interior trim.

Your best bet is to keep your eyes peeled and if you spot one, approach to buy the whole car.

Thanks for the replies lads, idealy I'm looking for the engine itself, as I really don't have place to store a doner car. I've also heard that the scrappy in Enfield I think it ks, on the old N4 is good for older cars, so I might try them out.

If you are looking for an engine only i would say IVI on the Naas will have an engine for you. They are in the Frank Fahey centre. They fitted literally hundredsof those engines back in the day .

Is it really worth the expense to swap the engine and relplace body panels on the one you currently have? If you look around, you'll find a mint K10 which would cost you less than the labour required to swap the engine, unless you're going to get stuck in yourself. I understand your desire to save yours from the scrapper but a mint one could end up in the scrapper just as easilly.

Car's been in the family since 1993. It's a labor of love! Plus it was my first car and I passed my test in it. Also, I don't mind doing an engine swap. It'll keep me occupied for most of the week that I don't work.

    Plus I'm quite eccentric! :D

Fair enough if the car has specific sentimental value and you're getting stuck in yourself. Eccentric in a Micra, I'm not so sure, but there's some inverted snobbery going on alright ;).

Whats wrong with the old engine? Why not strip it down and rebuild it? There's nothing in them
