So I've been keeping a blog for the past while, a lot of people have told me to work towards a book. I'm just wondering how tough is it for a 17 year old to secure someone to publish a book.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No harder for a 17 year old than for anything else. One of the great advantages of the publishing system is that you will be judged on your writing, nothing else. So even if you are spotty 17 year old whose ears stick out and whose runners always smell, you have the same chance as the guy in the three piece suit who drives a Jag.

If you're good enough you're old enough.

    Link?

We're cold, hard, scathing, and brutally unfair, not to mention a jealous bunch. But if you get by us, you've got a fair to middling chance. Conversely if you haven't the balls to post stuff here, you probably won't make it through the assault course it takes to be a writer... I suspect.

Age has nothng to do with it - If anything it would be a positive. However, you're putting the cart before the horse: Write first, then seek a publisher.....Build it and then will come.....

Writing a blog is VERY different to writing a book....Sure, some journalists have published blog collections as books but they're few and far between and the ones that have done it are generally professional writers anyway.

I got some great advice from a best-selling international author several years ago......Just WTFT.....Just Write the F...... thing!

The question is really how hard is it to get a book published - The answer to that is very hard indeed. However as pointed out by others age is not a barrier.
