Now that everyone has had a while with the 3GS, is it worth going from a non-iPhone to it?

Planning on getting the 32GB black tomorrow [hopefully in stock - didn't know it was this bad until now], and after all the overheating stories etc I'm just curious - should I still get it?

Well I've had mine just under a week. Since your coming from a no iPhone phone then yeah deffo go for it, if u had the 3g then I wouldn't be so sure, don't really notice the diff in general use, but it does handle cydia and jailbroken apps a lot smoother. I've only had minor issues with mine , namely my app names got all jumbled up and didn't match correctly with the icons, I just deleted them all and re-installed them..apparently it's a common prob and will be fixed in the next update. Oh and as I'm sure ur aware, battery life isn't good... But it good enuf to get by.. All in all it's a great device and u won't be able to keep ur hands off it when u get it. Great for tying on too- am typing this from my iPhone, just as fast as a laptop keyboard...

Agree with previous poster, and man: I hate the 3G I had for 1 week around xmas! Os 3.o really improved a lot imho! I had zero probs with unlock. Cydia apps mostly work - and I had no jumbled icons!

Battery life is, ahem, atrocious! Beyond funny! Downloading over 3g the battery percentage indicator looks like a countdown timer. But it's a fun device. Tv out is great to watch video podcasts on tv!

Battery life is the only problem for me, mainly cause I can't put the thing down!! Got a car charger, so between the 2 journeys to work it keeps me going. Only time I need to plug it in is at the weekends.

I've a first generation iphone. Is the battery difference really noticable in the later 2 versions?

I wouldn't worry about the overheating, that was mostly happening with the 3G models when people upgraded to 3.0. It doesn't effect the 3GS

Love the phone, so much faster than the 3G.
As said already battery life is dreadful but mainly down to the fact that I never stop using it...

Ive had mine about 2 weeks now. It is my first iphone. Have to say its the best gadget I have ever bought. Mine is jailbroken and unlocked and I havent had any problems yet ( touch wood). The only downside about the iphone is the battery like but to be honest all the stuff it does you can see why its hard on the battery.

I am having problems with Reception. It seems quite bad. I live in Clondalkin. I was in the square in Tallaght today in Tesco and I had no reception. In Gf's apartment in smithfield was bad as well. So far a few of my calls are of poor quality because of it. My bars are normally never full.

My first iPhone, i have the 3GS. Is this normal?
