Not sure what it is exactly but I heard its packed full of volcanicity

They're not really making it up.

They culture certain bacteria which does nothing and then name it something like L. Bollixus Imensei and then claim that it may be of benefit

Its the idiots that buy them I'd be worried about

Looking at the thread title i thought this had something to do with Brian Cowen and Farmers.....

It's a made up word. Apparently the advertisers think made-up sciencey sounding words sell better. Sort of an insult to the intelligence tbh.

It roughly translates as Stocking of Shite.

It's up there with those "95% of women agree" ads for shampoo, when they only test about 127 people. Misleading ads for gullible sheep. Much like most other forms of advertising really.

82% of women with digestive discomfort said they felt better after eating one or two pots of Activia every day

What the hell does this mean, digestive discomfort? I used to get pains in the gut all the time during my hedonistic days in college sitting on my ass all day, seeing how many Pringles I could fit in my mouth at any one time and getting regularly pissed. After a few years I discovered the joys of exercise and moderation and haven't had such pains since.

So, basically what the good marketing chaps at Danone have actually done is given free yellow goo to some fat slags and taken their opinion of "Yeah, whatever!" as positive feedback about their product.

    Go Team Danone!

My fave is the womens ads for mascra,

"it will make your eye lashes fooking massive looking"

then a small font 1 flash for 2 seconds

"model is styled with lash inserts"!

    • Activia, with Bifidus ActiRegularis, works alongside the good bacteria in your gut and is scientifically proven to help improve slower digestive transit.*
    * Activia is scientifically proven to help improve slower digestive transit when at least one pot is eaten everyday for 14 days as part of a healthy balanced diet and lifestyle

from the danone website. doesnt actually say anywhere how it's good for you

I saw a really fat woman in the supermarket buying about 20 pots of Activia last week. She was also buying loads of white bread, crisps and microwaved meals.

Activia must make a fortune from these idiots!

Yes, them and the drug barons who force these women to swallow condoms full of cocaine that causes the slow digestive transit

Or as the ad-men would say: "condomius cocaniregularis".

Quite simple. The less moral parts of society know that fools and their money are easily parted
    - so they will try and take full advantage. Just because they can, still don't make it right though.

I hate that old woman in the new Actimel ad,I dont know why,she just looks like a cunt

Unless you pyhsically shove it up the other end...any "good bacteria" food is bollax. Your stomach acid (pH 2 or whatever) is goin to mangle the little feckers before it gets anywhere near where its supposed to be beneficial.

Fact! 99.9% of decent scientists agree.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 804 ✭✭✭yerayeah

There's a pile of "good" bacteria inside you anyway and if you have digestive problems wouldn't it make a lot more sense to horse 5/6 weetabix into you every morning rather than rely on some fancy sounding bacteria....

But what about the one with the handbag full of s**te!

    "Empty your handbag love!!!"

Don't know what she needs, but defnitely something up with that bag!

Personally I get along quite well with my duodenum dwelling bacterial friends.
