Losec / Omeprazole over counter in North?

Does anyone know if you can get Losec (or the generic Omeprazole) over the counter in the North? Or, do Ulster pharmacies accept southern prescriptions?

Sorry to ask but, with three members of our family on Losec due to genetic stomach valve problems, it's pretty expensive each month now I'm down to a 3 day week.

AFAIK it's not available OTC in a Ni pharmacy. They are not supposed to accept a prescription form an ROI registered doctor except in an emergency.
An alternative is to phone around NI GP's and see if they will see you as a private patient and write you a prescription . That would bwe an option espeecially if you brought the original prescription and were upfront about the reasons behind your request

That's a shame - and I know most GP's in the north won't see you as a patient without a confirmed Ulster address....

Make sure that you are on the drug payment scheme. Not sure of the threshold at present but certainly less than 3 losec prescriptions

Thats as an NHS patient. They may well see you as a private patient, worth checking out (worked there as a GP for 4 years).

Also is your prescription generic omeprazole (alot cheaper than losec and identical effect)
