if you link the two laptops with a network cable you can
you can share the o2 mobile broadband over the lan connection.

i do it at home with a pc and share it with 2 others pcs and a laptop.

it may be possible with wireless but i don't use so i'm not sure.

Yes that is possible with wireless, it's called an Ad-Hoc network and they can usually work within 30ft of each other.

OP, what OS are you using?

It's actually a lot simpler than that on XP.

    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/setup/adhoc.mspx

This is the guide for Windows Vista and Windows 7 - very simple.

Need to share the mobile broadband over the wireless too though.
Else it's just a link between two laptops with no internet

Internet Sharing is turned on during the setup of these networks anyway.

    With Ad-Hoc?
Ah right, doesn't with lan connection.

I don't see why it wouldn't? I created an Ad-Hoc with Windows 7 last week and it was all automatically done for me. It's very handy.

Within XP, you may have to turn on Internet Connection Sharing in the adapters properties.

It doesn't assume you want to share in XP, it just gives you a link to the other pc.

Could be a usability feature in Windows 7, I share my mobile BB through an XP machine over lan cable and I had to share it manually.

Strange, the last time I did it in XP, I didn't have to change anything. It's possible it was already enabled.
