    Hi all,

Sorry if I am posting this in the wrong place - if I am somebody might redirect me.

Girlfriend after receiving his college exam results - exceptional marks, probably inline for student of the year in her course.

The problem is she goes to college in another county, so there are no class mates around where she lives, as she is at home living with her parents for the summer.

I am her boyfriend, but due to the recession - I am basically broke.

She wants to go celebrate tonight, even though we have plans for saturday night to meet some friends. I really cant do both.

    So any advice on

    - What to do?

    - any ideas on how to celebrate the results this evening / tonight - cheaply.

I know money is tight, me and my OH are both unemployed and I too got my exam results recently and was kinda difficult going out to celebrate with no money!

Why don't you cook her a nice dinner? get her a card and a bottle (or two) of wine and celebrate just the two of you, on the cheap. That way you can afford to go out with her friends! If she wants to go out you could make it not about money and say that you really want to celebrate with her just the two of you because your so proud of her and what to do something nice for her (like dinner and maybe some *ahem* ;) ).

It's what me and my OH did and I was delighted :D
