hi, does anyone know what the problem could be with my window washer.
i have a clio and when u pull the stalk forward to wash the windows no water comes out.
there is the usual noise, and the wipers wipe as usual.

the resevoir is topped up full aswel.

can i fix this myself. or if not how much could this prob cost.

    thanks!:D

well we can assume that the pump is fine as you can hear it running. It is therefore down to the pipework and the actual spray jets.
I would have a look under bonnet to check the little pipes where they fix to the spray jets to see if they are attached. You could also check to see if the reservoir level goes down after using the pump a bit. if so you have a split pipe somewhere. Also maybe stick a needle in the jets & wriggle it about abit if the reservoir is staying full as it must then be a blockage (again assuming pump is working as it should
Are you sure the windscreen wash reservoir is full and not just the engine coolant?

I had a problem with this before where a car was sitting up for a while and some moss/gunk had built up in the reservoir and blocked the filter so no water could get in.

Took the reservoir apart and cleaned everything - job done.

Probably a blocked tube or a tube that has become detached. If the level in the reservoir drops when you operate the washers then it's probably the latter.

Even though the pump makes noise, it could still be faulty. The motor could be working but the impeller might not be spinning, have seen this happen. Pop the pump out of the reservoir and see if the impeller spins when you operate the washers.

I had the same problem before and this is what was wrong.
Same thing noise coming from the pump but only front sprayer would work and not rear one.
Went to mechanic who disconected the pipe from jet under the bonnet and removed the pipe from the sprayer at the rear, grab a compressor and blow the muck out, job done :)

the wee jets can easly block with bits of dirt the air line is allways the best job for unblocking also somtimes i found some of those of those cheap bottles of windscreen wash tend to leave a gunk in the pipes and lead to block the jets
