If you look at the route map for the half marathon

There's some detail at the right hand side which says Start 10am, Last runner 12pm

Does this mean that there is now a cut off point of two hours for the half marathon?

That's dated last year, and there was no cut-off then, so not sure what that means.....maybe it's when the roads reopen to traffic?

    I emailed them about this...
On other years will have waited for all to finsih as will be same this year.
It means that we will prob. have to open some of the roads that we close off in the park. before everyone finishes.

Main avenue will be open to traffic once majority are starting their second lap.
Back roads from Military Rd onwards to the finish will be closed for approx 3hrs I'd say.

As far as I remember the second time along Chesterfield road is on the path as the road opens up once the entire field have turned off the main road.

The 2009 course seems to be different to previous years. Nothing mentioned this time around about a cut off.

Savage, nice change to the course from the last two years.
Will be easier hills wise too which is a help from 10m onwards.

Yeah, all that time spent on Chesterfield Ave might get a bit boring though but I look forward to the nice new route. Finishing on OS road will be better than the Furze road for the 5 miler anyway as it's wider. I think.

Edit: and the 10 mile map http://dublinmarathon.ie/map09_10mile.pdf is it just me or would they be better off doing the first lap up chesterfield avenue? then by the time we get to lap two the width of the kyber wouldn't be as much of an issue as the field will have spread out a lot more?

Nice that theyve changed the course for this alrite - a bit of variety from last year. 3 stretches of Chesterfield Avenue leaves a lot to be desired tho!

If only now they bring in bottles of water instead of cups, that would be excellent. Also appear to be distanced quite far apart, considering you cant carry cups that far.... unless anyone knows differently on the cups thing?

...couldn't agree more. Seems like a no brainer has been missed again.

On a positive note the course for the half is much better.
