    i am a guy and was wondering is it usually assumed that guys make the first move? as regards texting a girl first or mailing etc? i'm not very good with the whole girl thing and am pretty lazy/shy when it comes to girls, i get embarrased at the whole idea of texting them outta the blue and knowing that they probably know why you are texting them..it just makes me feel awkward..should i just get over it and do it because if i dont there's no other way for them to know i am interested ?? e.g like out in a pub and chat to a girl and get on grand and the next day should i text them and not sit there expecting some kinda miracle that they will text me? is it expected for the guy to text first? thanks

    Well, somebody has to text first or nothing's ever going to happen! Most women will wait for the guy to text first, yes... but seriously, you said it yourself - there's no way for a girl to know you're interested unless you act interested. So text her!

    Its a game of two halves my friend!

    Often (rightly or wrongly) the guy is expected to text first...thats not to say girls can't or shouldn't, but as things stand thats the way of it....

    So if your objective is to show you are interested get the (texting) finger out!

    Um, that's not what I said at all... I completely disagree actually! If you like a guy, you should text him. What I said was MOST girls in Ireland WILL wait for the guy to text first. Which I think is really stupid, but that's the way things are.

    Why ? Because she won't know if he's actually interested unless he does ?

    He won't know either, so he mightn't text at all. Why should he be the one to stick his neck out and get knocked back ?

    End result : both people miss out.

    Life's too short for stupid games. If you like someone, let them know. The worst they can do is say no, and then you're no longer guessing and you can move on if needs be; or you get to enjoy what you started. Win-win.
