Ok, second post of Boards.ie. Let's see how this goes..

    FREEVIEW hook up.

We have just moved into a little place in Maynooth and need to get our TV channels going.

    NOW

We have a satellite dish ALREADY on the side of our house from previous occupants, AND we have the coaxial cable running into TV area, PLUS, we have a brand new Freeview box.

All we need is someone to make it all talk. so we can have freeview channels on our plasma TV.

DOES ANYONE KNOW A LOCAL INSTALLER/SPECIALIST IN THE MAYNOOTH / NORTH KILDARE AREA (or someone who will come here) WHO IS:

    1. Reliable / Honest
    2. Reasonable
    3. Skilled in this area.

    Thanks again.

If it's a FREEVIEW box you have it wont work with any satellite dish. it only works with an aerial and is designed for the UK. Check and see what box, you have you need a Freesat/Free to air box.

In addition if it is a satellite receiver you have and not a Freeview box the dish that was left behind needs to be pointed at the right satellite or you could end up with EE channels.

You could try Tony over at satellite.ie and see if he covers Maynooth.

Second option is to give these guys in Kildare a call:

If you have an existing dish, wired to an appropriate Satellite receiver(FreeSat, Sat4Free, old Sky box, etc) as opposed to a Freeview box, you may not need an installer.
You just need to connect the box to the cable & scan for channels.
Unless the previous occupants were foreign I'm guessing you'll be pointed at Astra/Eurobird.
