Sealing internal brickwork?

    Hi guys,

Nearing the end of our self-build, around 6 weeks to go!!!! Okay, my Q....we have an open plan kitchen/living/dining room where we put in a red brick pillar (in the kitchen) and matching floor to ceiling fireplace which will house a RIVA 66 multi-fuel stove (with 3" brushed chrome trim around the front and a glass flush finish) below in at front of the living/dining room.

One of the guys visiting the house the other day was talking about sealing the brick pillar and fireplace, but I've never heard of it being done internally before. Sure, I've heard it done to external brick walls but not internal pillars/fireplaces.

Has anyone heard of this, or done it in their projects and if so....what do they recommend?(and what do they say to stay well away from?) I want an aged natural look to complement the red brick...not a shiny glossy one that takes from the whole look of it.

    Thanks guys!

    Cul :)

a very weak mix of pva adhesive and water 1-8 mix

try on a low level spot first to see how it works for you - just 1 brick
