Hey would anybody have any information on what type of degree is accepted for getting 4th year pay on your first year in the Gardai ? .

Does it have to be a level 7 or 8 award.

Not realy sure how they run this section.

Some info would be much needed

    Thanks

    Paul

As far as I know you only get pay increments for a degree after you are out of your probation.
ie. one year of training + two years of probation = three years

Yeah we were told the same by divisional training staff. Increments are paid after your 2 year probation has ended. You definitely do not get the increments after your first year in Templemore. Not sure what you mean by level 7 or level 8 though, Paul? I have a 4 year degree myself and have been told by the training staff that that's enough to qualify for the increment if that helps answer your question any :)

No difference between a level 7 and 8 honours degree. Same increments but as posters said you only get them after probation.....not on your first year.

How much is the increment actually worth to somebody with an Honours Degree, As opposed to your wages if you didn't have one?

About 4 grand....but its not extra money, its two jumps on the scale.

See scale here - http://www.gra.cc/payscales.shtml and look at second one. Everyone catches up, just a degree starts a bit better.
