Orlando car hire.

18 of my family are off to Orlando next month and I'm trying to find the best deal for car hire. We'll need 4 cars/minivans with a child seat in each.

It's difficult to get an idea of what the actual cost is going to be though. The websites say things like child seats have to be paid locally and from experience there's always some extra insurance to be bought that, for some reason, can't be included in the price they give you online.

Then I found www.yescarhire.com who offer a gold inclusive deal that looks to include everything, and the website says "no hidden extras guaranteed". I've seen them recommended on Boards before but I'd like to know if it's really "no hidden extras" or is it "no hidden extras apart from the ones we always charge at the collection counter".

I also saw a recommendation for carhire3000.com. Does anyone know what they are like for the embellishments at the collection counter?

    TIA

    www.carhire3000.com
    www.usrentacar.com
www.carsabroad.com and the others that you mentioned.

Your situation is quite unique. Make sure that you phone all these companies and not just rely on web quotes. Any company worth their salt should give you a good quote. As for child seats it might be worth your while just buying them over there, try www.walmart.com the hire companies charge about $5 a day per seat, this all depends on the length of your stay. We are going over for seven weeks at the end of October (we have a place over there) and got a seven seat mini-van with one extra driver for £1,232.00 with usrentacar. Have a great trip, its a great place. Try and go with Alamo through one of these companies (agents) they have much better cars than Budget.

    Cheers!

Care to comment on the last minute add-ons?
The comments on USrentacar.com seem to suggest that Alamo are particularly bad for trying to upsell at the counter, with many folk blaming the fact they had to queue for an hour on the staff being too busy trying to push every customer in to a bigger car or selling add-ons.

I'll ring a few of them later, thanks.

They are all bad for trying to upsell to you. Do the deal this side with whichever company you decide to go with, when you pay the full balance you will get a voucher.....make sure that they write on it that there is no extras to pay and the balance has been paid in full. When you get there you will be tired and vunerable after a nine hour flight, this is what they prey on. Just say NO. If you decide to go with one of Alamos cars through one of those agents ask them to forward you on details of there "Direct Road" policy whereby you will be able to skip the Q's. After all you are hiring several cars from them and leaving them a lot of money so they should be able to help you out with this.

I recently used www.carhire3000.com for our upcoming trip to Florida in August, they are just a broker (my actual car hire is with Dollar) I found them to be a good bit cheaper than booking direct with the company. I agree with the TingTong, in your situation I would ring them before booking, I had to ring carhire3000 and found them very helpful.

I have rented cars with Dollar, Budget and Hertz in the past and have found that they all try and upsell you at the counter. Just hold firm and refuse any of the extras. My booking with carhire3000 includes all the insurance, the only extras are things like personal liability which is something along the lines of covering you if something happens if you are getting in or out of the car . I am presuming you have travel insurance so you won't have any need for that. Just ring them and find out exactly what is and isn't covered and then you can decide if that is enough cover for you. They will try and scare monger you at the counter, just smile and say 'no thank you' :D. Enjoy your trip, it is a great place.

P.s. Very jealous of you TingTong
