I was in Cuba last year in september and had two Hurricanes on my Holidays which i have to say wasn't so great. This year i just got a Amazing deal on a two week cruise around the Caribbean but im afraid of Hurricanes the Travel Company told me that the Boat is the best place because it can just move when it detects a storm but im still worried. Has anyone been on a cruise during september in the caribbean and if so have you encountered what they do when they detect a hurricane

    Thanks

The season runs from June to November.

You are correct in saying that a cruise is a safe place to be, but you may end up missing ports or the whole cruise if a hurricane comes in.

Cruises from US ports are very cheap this year (credit crunch + cheap oil).

What ship are you looking at ?

    Hey thanks for replying,

Im going with Royal Caribbean Cruises, on their ship called liberty of the seas which i have to say is massive!!!

Have you been with this company!

I haven't , but any reviews I have seen on the liberty have been positive.

You right in saying it's a big ship , plan to do nothing but get lost for the first few hours !

I went on a Carribean cruise with Royal Carribean in July of 2007. I had absolutely no problems whatsoever with regards to hurricane season. The only small problem we had that it lashed heavily on first day in Miami (where our ship first departed) Nevertheless, my mam still went shopping. :pac:

In my opinion, I wouldn't let the hurricane season be an issue if you were thinking of going on a Carribean cruise.

Myself and the other half went on the Liberty of the Seas round the Carribean in late September two years ago. We had no storms of any kind at all - not a single drop of rain or puff of wind.

It's the most amazing ship ever - a full week and you still won't have seen every part of it. Some people think that only oldies go on cruises but we are in our 20s and loved every second of it. There is so much to do on cruise ships nowadays - we actually didn't end up sunbathing much as there were always several things to do at any one time.

It took us ages to find our cabin to start with - make sure you have a note of your room number on you at all times cos it's easy to forget and all the doors look alike from the corridor!!!

Also, don't be worried if all the alarms etc go off after you board and before the ship leaves port - its just a drill.

So I shouldn't have run up and down the corridor shouting iceberg ?
