Accomodation--Centrepoint

What do you all think about staying at Centrepoint? I stayed at Gort last summer when I studied abroad, so centrepoint isnt too much farther than that, correct?

I'm an international (from the states) student and wont be arriving in galway till August 27. Would I be better off to book accommodation now, or wait to find an apartment when I get there? I've been looking on daft.ie but as I am not currently in Galway, there really is no luck in finding an apartment before I get over there.

its a good 10 min farther than gort
takes 25 min to walk 2 college, less than 10 on a bike

No way would i stay out there, its an awful distance to be travelling for college. Horrible infact.

it wasnt THAT horrible walking from gort to NUIG....so I dont see why an extra 10 mins would make much of a difference....

and wouldnt there be a bus that i could take if i really got that tired of walking?

The walk will be fine. I'm actually living out there myself next year. :D

Get a bike and you'll be in in no time at all.

But I wouldn't rely on a bus in Galway to get you anywhere. They're not always the most reliable of things...

Well its just my opinion thats all.

Buses are absolutely useless, dont rely on them whatsoever.

my brother stayed there last year and for the first few months he complained about the distance to NUIG esp when the weather was poor but he did eventually get used to it.

apart from the distance its a pretty good place to live and there are other NUI students living in them

good to know about the buses....and yeah, I had planned on getting a bike.

i would rather rent an apartment than live in student accommodation, but seeing as I cant get there till so late in August, I'm worried I wouldnt be able to find a place at all...and Id really not like to have to worry about having a place to live. haha.

Don't worry too much about finding a place when you get here, there is a bit of a rush to find places around that time but there are plenty of rooms to go round, prices are gradually coming down too so renting a room in a shared apartment/house is the cheapest option.

I am an international student and I will arrive Galway on 27-AUG too.
But, I try very hard to find a house near NUIG recently. We plan to share a house with students.

What's this place like for temporary accommodation? Being a student dorm, does it reek like feet? Would their be tons of kids there right now or do they not come until september?

I don't think centrepoint does temp accommodation. When I lived there it was a contract for the college year!
