I had the predecessor, the Trek 1000, as my first road bike, as have many people, it was probably the most common bike in evidence at the two triathlon/duathlons I did last year. Good solid starter road bike, if it is your first road bike you probably will find it very fast compared to what you might have had before! Enjoy.

    What is the C for?

My sister bought a 1.2, she hasn't used it much but despite what people say about Treks (overpriced, etc.) it is still a very solid road bike with a good warranty. Sora is perfectly fine if kept in tune, the shifters can be a bit clunky but if I had Sora I wouldn't be too upset.

Not a fan of the paint scheme, hers is blue and white.

Make sure the wheels are true when you wheel it out of the shop, the Bontrager wheels were pretty badly put together when she got it, but this can be said of most entry level wheels on Treks, Giants, etc.
