    Hi Guys,
I have a problem. I registered as self-employed (freelance writer) on the first of July (2009) so I'm officially self employed now for less than a month. A big change has a occurred in my personal circumstance and I need to unregister as self employed (ie. go unemployed for a while) as I search for a full-time job. How do I do this?

I have only earned 200 euros or so as freelancing is tough to break into. will I have to pay tax on this??

    How do I unregister??

Are there any forms for this??

    Thanks!
    -Dean

You want form TRNC1 to cancel your registration for Income tax.

Click this link and it's 7th down from the top.

You'll have to return the €200 you earned on a Form 11 for 2009 alright. Any expenses you incurred when conducting your business as self employed could be deducted though ;)

    Thanks!

Just one more question. You say I'll have to return the 200 euro? Return it to who?

Let's say this for instance so I can understand what you mean.

I wrote an article for a magazine

I got paid 200 euro for it

I put 21% of it away as I know that eventually I'll have to pay tax for it.

I now want to come out of being self employed

DO I sent all the 200 euro back to the magazine?? this seems odd as I earned it.

    could you please clarify? ;)

or you can pop in to your local tax office where they will be happy to help you fill out your cancellation request and your return for the year, including deducting any expenses.

Apologies OP, when I said return the €200, I just meant 'return' it for income tax purposes, or declare it might be a better term :) You wont have to give it away don't worry :)

The above suggestion isn't a bad one, if you pop into your local tax office they should sort the cancellation for you.
