    Peter Gual :

Initially experimenting with sound creation using early electronic instruments such as the Spectrum 128k and Tracker, Peter was keen to express himself musically from a very young age. Having taken inspiration from bands ranging from Sonic Youth to the Ramones and with a healthy fix of trash metal, he learned to play the guitar and began writing his own songs, eventually forming his own band. Although the band had limited success, Peter had cut his musical teeth and had acquired a taste for live musical performance. He moved on to the solo creation of electronic music and began to explore the depth of 4/4 rhythms with his 486DX2 PC and followed on to experiment with drum machines and synthesizers. Comparing the energy of techno to that of the bass and drums of a real live band, he combines industrial and tribal drum elements to escalating atmospheric sounds, often conveying a dark edge while retaining an infectious dance-ability.
A native of Spain, Peter would eventually move to Dublin where he refined his musical style and began to play live for what would become an ever appreciative and growing Dublin following. He continued to perform his action packed live sets throughout 2004 and 2005 to critical acclaim, until he decided to move home to Mallorca. It was not until Life Festival 2009 that Dublin’s techno faithful would get another chance to witness one of his revered live sets, and now he returns to the more intimate kind of surroundings he had been used to, as he revisits Dublin for this one-off exclusive performance with long time friend Fran Hartnett.

Fran Hartnett is one of the most instantly recognisable faces on Dublin’s techno scene. Through many years of DJ-ing at countless clubs, one-off events and raves, Fran enjoyed massive popularity under his then alias of ‘Azrael’. As his own music began to mature, he eventually moved away from this moniker, and by 2007 made his transition to playing live, something that he has been doing regularly around the country since.
Known for his penchant towards deeper and darker industrial tinged techno, Fran’s tastes are also rooted in ambient and experimental electronic sounds – flavours very much apparent in his powerful hardware based live sets.
2009 marks the release of three new remixes - of Orlando Voorn, Itokim and Julian Eustace respectively - while an original track ‘Alpha’ appears on Mantrap’s ‘Trapdoor Material’ series in September. Anyone who witnessed Fran’s awesome live set at Life Festival this year will know what type of killer music he has in his artillery, and going by this schedule for releases so far, it seems he is finally ready to unleash it!
