Rates for having thesis typed

    (apologies if this is not in correct place but wasn't sure where else to post).

    I have been offered a thesis typing job and wonder what the going rate is per page.

    how so?

    ive heard a couple of people chatting about that while back and ive heard 300-400 for the whole thing? but i dont know

    Presume the OP is just typing from handwritten essay rather than writing it for the person! Not everyone has the same computer skills and some will pay to have it professionally typed and formatted.

    Well i went to UCD for 3 years and i was told that if you handed up written work that wasn't written by you, then you could be expelled. That said how would they find out in the first place?

    No plagiarism on my part - I'm simply the typist!!
    So, at 300-400 for the whole thing... how much would that average out at per page, any idea?

    I think you are taking things a little too literally. :)

    To use an analogy - is a book written by the author? Yes, it is, but he/she doesn't actually type up each book individually. Same with a thesis.

    As for how would academic staff tell if the work wasn't a student's own? Very easily, tbh. There are many, many things that give it away. Apart from a Google of the odd line here and there, there is also the content - it's not too difficult to spot a student who hasn't a clue what he/she hasn't written. Plus there is the language aspect - it's not difficult to spot the language of an expert, vs. the language of a final-year student who is really only a novice in the subject matter.

    Getting something typed up is not plagiarism. Copying from somebody else's work is.

    amazing how a thread can go so quickly off topic. Think original poster wants to know what the going rate is for typing up a handwritten manuscript.

    That's three years well spent.

    Like others have said the OP is offering the Typing service, the students have to come up with the content themselves. Well that, or the OP is some super genius who is an expert in everything.

    Hi there,
    I got a lady to "type" mine last year. I think she was about 2.50euros a page (that is prob negotiable now). although i am sure that has changed she offered a really good service - binding etc too - really quick
    dont have her contact number but do have her email addres still if that is of use to anyone -
