    Hello,

I am looking for a laptop for college use in the 500-800 Euro price range.

I need a good value and medium to high specs.

Mainly I will be editing video using Photoshop, Indesign and Adobe Soundbooth for Podcasting.

I will be watching movies and using it for Itunes also.

I play a few games but that's not priority at all.

I'll also need a dvd burner, probably not DL dvd burner though.

Battery life is an issue but not huge, I would need it for maybe 2-3 hours on the road at a time.

Not a major fan of Vista but am willing to accept it as the OS...

    Don't need warrenty.

I would love to get some links to laptop deals that you find, I've searched through dell but I'm afraid I'll just buy a laptop I don't really need.

I hope you guys can help, the lower the price the better.

    Thanks

i got a dell vostro 1700 from dell.ie a year ago, very high spec laptop, 3gb ram, 160 gb 7200 hard drive, hd monitor, dual core processor,.
Go onto dell.ie and order one from there. Mine was only 600 euro with a 17" monitor and webcam. Dell also have great customer care, if their is a hardware problem a tech can call out to your house the next day free of charge if under year warranty.

    Just checked Vostro 1720 laptop.

Saw a nice one for 859.

Can someone tell me if this is good value?

    heres the link http://www1.euro.dell.com/ie/en/business/4x_vostro_1720/fs.aspx?refid=4x_vostro_1720&s=bsd&cs=iebsdt1

It seems pretty high spec with 8gb of ram.

    Any opinions are welcome.

That looks to be a very goo laptop for the price and there is a 10% off coupon with it.

That laptop looks capable of playing games too, not that that will change whether I will buy it or not. Can anyone confirm if it will play the likes of fallout 3 or even gta san andreas.

It'll definitely play the games you've mentioned. You may not get full graphical detail on Fallout, but it'll definitely run.

I might just go ahead and buy this laptop, it seems a good price for such a high end machine. Anyone know any problems with this laptop or any experience with it?

    Thanks for the help.
