In the same week that Ikea is supposed to be opening in Dublin, its not auguring well for their pricing policy.

If you want to purchase a catalogue from them (they are free instore but for some reason Ikea think that 2 pounds equates to 4 euro),

    1. Write to this address:

    IKEA Ltd
    2nd Floor
    Salters House
    Kelbrook Road
    Salterforth
    Lancashire
    BB18 5TF

    2. Enclose a cheque payable to "IKEA Ltd " for £2, or 4 Euros for ROI addresses

OR maybe the posage cost is different?

will every household in the country not get a free catalogue anyway? they did that in the north before they opened.

Doubt it. There are c.1.7m households in the Republic. Would be a lot of scratch involved.

IKEA are no fools when it comes to retailing. They understand & research their markets with phenonemal percision.

I would expect that prices in Dublin will be extremely close to those in belfast, maybe even a bit cheaper on some items.

I believe they will have about 10,000 items on sale and I can absolutely guarantee the Evening Hysterical & Irish Daily Muck will find a dozen items that will be more expensive in Dublin whilst omiting the items that will be more expensive in Belfast, whilst forgetting that their newspapers are approx. 40% cheaper in Belfast than Dublin!

    Found an article on it
If the Dublin store manager is correct in his predictions we could have alot of people coming down from the north to shop in the Dublin store ...

But unless the difference in price is significant, delivery or petrol money will cancel out the difference....

    http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/ireland/2009/0722/1224251064355.html

''PRICES IN the new Ikea store in Dublin, which opens next Monday, will be about the same as in its Belfast store, according to the company. By Christmas, prices in the Ballymun store will be lower than in the North as sterling strengthens against the euro, the Dublin store manager Garry Deakin predicted yesterday.''
