Doctor Who is Required!

Several weeks ago, I watched "The War Machines". Now uber-Doctor Who nerds will know that it's got its place in Who lore for the following line:
"Doctor Who is required!". This is the only time that he's called "Doctor Who" directly on screen, rather than it being a sly nod/wink to the audience.

Of course the credits list him as "Dr. Who" for years but in the show he is - all other times - "The Doctor". In fact, I believe David Tennant insisted that he be credited as "The Doctor" and not "Doctor Who".

So what do you think of him as - is he the Doctor? Is he Doctor Who? Or is he both (along with Theta and all the other labels he's picked up). One thing he isn't though - he's not the Professor so shut up Ace!.
