How long left should i have my braces on?

ive worn them for nearly a year and a half and i just got elastic bands today on to aline the teeth. the teeth seem to me to be perfect but if you look closer their not actually aligned theres a 2mm space between the center lines at the front will i have them off in a month?

I'd say if you only got the elastics on today you will have them on for at least a few more months.

I got the elastics in, and had the braces on for another 6 months.

Everyone's different I suppose, depends how quickly your teeth move, how big the gap is, etc.

The short answer is it takes as long as it takes. Usually once you are happy with the position of the teeth and the orthodontist is happy with the result and the bite, and they have been retained for enough time, you can get them off and get your retainers fitted.
