Nokia N95 8GB software update to 31.0.015

After finally upgrading my phone from version 20.0.016 to 31.0.015 first, I have noticed very little change, but also when I go into the maps and ask for it to go online, it always goes to the 3g option as oppose to searching for WLAN. I have set the setting in maps to search for WLAN in the internet settings, but it still always defaults to connecting to 3g. I have changed the user name in 3g so it can’t connect and then it says no internet connection available.
Has anyone else out there experienced this? I have tried re-installing the firmware update, but the issue remains. I am able to search for WLAN from the start screen and can browse the internet fine, just can’t use WLAN from maps.
Beginning to pull my hair out!!!

    Thanks

Have you saved the wlan as an access point?

    Hey Davy,
thnaks for the reply. I have multiple access points saved, I can access these fine when checking my emails, or just browsing the internet, the problem is, it just doesnt even attempt to scan for wlan access ponts. I think I', going to give up and bring it to the phone repair shop to check it out.
    Thanks again.

Before you send it anywhere their is still a few things to try first.

Have you upgraded to maps3.0 yet?

I can use wlan connection without any problems with it.

Hi Davy, Thanks for the reply. SOrry for the late response. I don't have internet at home so I was unable to see your post before i brought the phone up to get fixed. But they took it in and replaced a few parts (not sure exactly what) and they "flashed" the software also. I checked it there in MPRC in sandyford and I could not pick up a wlan with maps. It does come up like when you would search for a wlan on the desktop. They checked it with theer own wlan away from me and assured me that it worked with thier wlan. So I took it home and tried it from work. In work we have a hidden wlan and i have connected fine using email and internet. But in maps when i chose the default access point and set it to search for wlan when going online, it comes up saying No WLAN network found. (I'm assuming that it cant find the hidden wlan) but if I go into the Default access point and set it to the hidden wlan it connects ok.
It's like when it is set to search for wlan it is searching for the first time and does not recognise previously defined access points. It does not show up like it does when searching for wlan on the desktop or when downloading email.
I have now tested this in a location where the WLAN is not hidden, and each time to go to search for a WLAN, it does not recognise that I have connected to that WLAN and requests the WLAN security code each time (which is very frustrating). I think I might be taking it back to the repair shop. ANy ideas before I do?

Wait, can't you just go to "Maps > Settings > Access Point > Always Ask" so if automatically searches first? So it doesn't default to 3G?

Thanks for the reply cpu-dude, when I set it to always ask, and it finds all wireless access points like I am searching for the first time still. It does not find the hidden WLAN in work which i always connect to. If I am at home and have it set to always ask, it picks up my wireless but i need to type in the wep code each time.

Go to tools, settings, connections, access points on your phone and create your home wireless access point there and enter wep etc. You shouldn't need to keep entering the wep every time then and when in range your home wifi should show in your connections list alongside your other access points.

Thanks Random, But I have already setup my home access point, I have used it to connect to the internet, / get my email, but I am still required each and everytime to put in my WEP code when I try to connect to maps from home.
